If you're up on all the latest tech news, then you've already heard of Google's brand new Nexus One phone, the latest in its Android line. Now, Rhapsody is pleased to announce the launch of a public beta program for our new Android app, which allows you to stream all 8 million songs in Rhapsody's catalog while at the same time calling your mother and responding to your mother's new Tweet. If you own a Droid, G1 or any other Android device, you are invited to visit us on our Facebook page to register to be a part of the beta test group. Non-Rhapsody subscribers are also eligible and will have the opportunity to try Rhapsody at no cost for seven days. Thank you for helping us create a premium mobile music experience!

Offline listening and I would sign up today.
Awesome! I've been waiting for this for a long time!
When are you going to develop an app for the Palm Pre?
This is great news. Glad to see Rhapsody is considering supporting devices other than the iPhone and iPod with apps.
Now when will the beta test for the Palm Pre be available....Come on, I've been a dedicated subscriber since 2002.
I'm not big on streaming. Can you actually download the songs to your phone to use like an mp3 player??
I know for a fact you can NOT do this on iPhone/iPod Touch because apple only wants you to be able to download songs paid for through iTunes. If downloading is available on Android and Nexus this would be a BIG advantage.
Please allow offline listening. Also, tightly integrate it into the notifcations area for easy controls. Deep integration into Android, like using rhapsody songs as ringtones, etc. would be great. I'm glad rhapsody is supporting the #1 smartphone operating system now. Now disrespect to iphone, but Android is gaining ground and I have all my friends buying Android phones since they had a chance to play around with my Moto cliq.
Going out to by the droid today, I've been holding off for a rhapsody app.
Streaming is great BUT... you'd have a HUGE advantage if you allowed saving the files for offline listening. Many corporations are blocking streaming at work, but still allow you to listen to your music via downloaded files. It would be great for those people. I also think LIX's idea above of tight integration of Rhapsody with the phone is a really good one.
No matter what, I will be a Rhapsody customer forever, I love it - but I now download songs to a Samsung MP3 player and I'd be a lot happier if I only had to carry one device around, the Droid has the memory to store thousands of songs, why not allow download as you already do with select MP3 players?
I used to love using Rhapsody's download feature as a subscriber. If the Android app only does streaming, I think I would just stay with Pandora. I was recently flying and it dawned on me I wouldn't be able to listen to music "in flight", like I used to be able to with Rhapsody and my Creative MP3. There has to be some kind of offline mode to make it worthwhile. I was a big Rhapsody fan so hopefully this will get added during the beta. I'm glad to see the intial support and will be hoping for more soon.
Excellent, I want to add a reference to your post from my site for my friends.
i just got the new upgraded app for rhapsody on my samsung epic.....i can now download music directly to my phone.....it works great except for a few things......when i play the downloaded songs with my speakers plugged in to the phone the phone speakers do not shut off, so, i have the computer speakers playing fine and also the phone speaker playing loudly as well. this does not occur when i play music with the regular music player in the phone and it did not occur on the previous rhapsody version before i added the newer version.....also you can only download full albums to your phone and not individual songs......also you cant delete one song or album, only the entire playlist.....i believe....if i'm incorrect on any of these points somebody point me in the right direction.....
