Playing Rock Band vs. Being in a Rock Band

Ex-Sleater Kinney member Carrie Brownstein took some time off from her burgeoning comedy career and penned a piece for Slate about Rock Band, the new multi-player game from the creators of Guitar Hero.

Despite comparing it to “Tetris meets Simon meets karaoke” and surmising that it’s “more like StairMaster than it is like rock’n’roll,” she seems to have a good time tapping along to Weezer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Radiohead. Too bad she didn’t have comedic sidekick Fred Armisen—a.k.a. Jens Hanneman—holding down the rhythm section.
